For wedding planners & couples
Wedding venues & vendors in France and Italy: planning your live music
Choosing a château, vineyard or villa is only one part of the celebration. SLM - Artists supplies live musicians and entertainment — not venues or full wedding planning — for weddings in the Dordogne, Provence, the Loire Valley, the French Riviera and Italy.
Use your venue shortlist to shape the ceremony music, drinks reception and evening party, then bring your venue, planner and music supplier together around one running order.
Enquire about wedding music
01 · Venue & music planning
Dordogne château & country-estate weddings
Shortlisting wedding venues in the Dordogne or Périgord? Plan the music around the spaces you will use, not just the number of guests. A ceremony, courtyard drinks reception and evening party may each need a different setup.
What to confirm with your venue
Ask your venue about supplier access, unloading, power at each performance location and an indoor alternative. Share the distances between the ceremony, reception and dance floor so your musicians can allow time to move and set up.
Choosing your wedding musicians
Consider strings or a vocalist for the ceremony, a cocktail pianist or jazz act for drinks, and a band or DJ for the evening.
02 · Venue & music planning
Provence vineyard & mas weddings
For a vineyard, garden or mas wedding in Provence, decide which parts of the celebration will take place outdoors. Your music supplier needs a clear plan for shelter, equipment and the move from daytime music to the evening party.
What to confirm with your venue
Confirm a shaded or covered performance area, a weather backup and suitable power with the venue. Ask about amplified music, sound limits and the agreed finish time before finalising your entertainment schedule.
Choosing your wedding musicians
An acoustic singer or small ensemble can accompany drinks; a live band can take over for the evening once the performance space is ready.
03 · Venue & music planning
Loire Valley château weddings
When comparing Loire Valley wedding venues, include the music setup in your room plan. Ceremony rooms, terraces and reception halls can need different line-ups and sound arrangements.
What to confirm with your venue
Share room dimensions, guest numbers and the planned stage position with your music supplier. Check access for equipment, any restrictions on fixing lighting or staging, and whether speeches need a separate microphone.
Choosing your wedding musicians
Strings or classical vocalists suit a ceremony programme; a pianist, jazz ensemble or party band can cover later moments without repeating the same mood throughout the day.
04 · Venue & music planning
French Riviera villa & seaside weddings
For weddings around Nice, Cannes or Antibes, coordinate music with your venue and planner before agreeing the running order. A villa terrace, hotel reception and indoor dance floor can each have different production needs.
What to confirm with your venue
Confirm delivery and loading access, the performance footprint and any venue sound rules. If the ceremony and party use separate spaces, establish whether equipment can move between them or whether separate sound systems are needed.
Choosing your wedding musicians
A ceremony ensemble, cocktail act and evening DJ or show band give each part of the celebration its own musical identity.
05 · Venue & music planning
Tuscany, Lake Como & Amalfi Coast weddings
For a destination wedding in Italy, give your musicians the exact venue address rather than only the region. Travel, access and equipment arrangements should be agreed for your chosen villa, estate or hotel.
What to confirm with your venue
Ask the venue or planner about the final approach, unloading, performance spaces and permitted music times. Confirm whether sound and lighting will come from the artist, a local production supplier or SLM - Artists before booking separate equipment.
Choosing your wedding musicians
Build your line-up around the ceremony, aperitivo and evening reception, with the first dance and any special songs agreed in advance.
A shared checklist for your wedding vendors
Your planner, venue, caterer and music supplier need the same timings. Agree when guests move, when speeches take place, when dinner finishes and when the dance floor opens.
- Ceremony & drinks. Share the ceremony start, aisle songs, exit music and drinks-reception duration. Confirm whether musicians need to relocate.
- Dinner & speeches. Agree microphone provision, the speech schedule and whether background music is live or recorded.
- First dance & party. Confirm the first-dance song, band sets, breaks, DJ handover and the venue's agreed music finish time.
- Sound & lighting. Establish who supplies equipment and who operates it. SLM - Artists can provide production where required; it can also be sourced by the client or supplied by the artist.
